Bring the Coffee House Home

coffee houseCoffee houses in America have become almost as popular as McDonald's. If you're not going to an outright coffee house, many American's make regular morning stops at bakeries and bagel shops that are very similar to coffee houses, only they offer a few other selections to their discriminating clientèle. Visiting a coffee house first thing in the morning is one way to give your senses a definitive wake up call. If the smell doesn't get you, the lively atmosphere and the wonderful flavors will do the job for you.

Coffee houses are no longer just a place to visit during the early morning hours. In fact, they are generally well populated no matter what time of day you are visiting. If you haven't been to one recently, try going at what you feel would be an odd time and see if you aren't surprised by the large number of people mulling about. Coffee houses have a certain atmosphere of security and comfort to them that simply invites visitors to sit a while, relax, and enjoy. The thing that these owners have figured out is that the longer people stay, the more likely they are to order something else. So, visitors are made to feel like welcomed honored guests. There are large screen televisions, wireless Internet access, magazines, and books available for visitors to enjoy with their coffee drinks and desserts.

The décor of these coffee houses is also friendly and inviting. Many of them have sitting areas with nice comfy couches and overstuffed chairs arranged in intimate format so that smaller groups can have a sense of privacy within the overall larger group. In fact, groups often meet at coffee houses for large group functions. It isn't as expensive as going out to dinner and still provides a treat away from the everyday and ordinary, at least it is out of the way from the ordinary for most of us. These coffee houses demand a premium price for the atmosphere they provide. While the coffee is great, the prices are not so great. So be aware when you decide to go in that you will need more than the 30 cents you used to pay at the 7-11.

While coffee houses are a great way to get out of the house and meet friends in a relaxed atmosphere, there is something to be said about trying to bring that atmosphere into your home. You could do this in small ways by arranging your furniture in a more intimate formation designed more for conversations rather than maximum floor space. Have some candles that have hints of coffee in their fragrances or use coffee beans in our candleholders. The beans will have a nice aroma as the candles warm around them. Also burn vanilla and caramel scented candles as they are very complimentary to coffee flavors and get a nice set of oversized coffee mugs that are fun to hold. Invite friends over and bring your local coffee house to your house for weekly meetings at a fraction of the cost. You could also take turns bringing desserts to your weekly meetings. But, coffee houses are here to stay and sometimes it's a great idea just to go somewhere to get out of the house. A coffee house, in all honesty, is not a bad choice.
