Choosing Your Espresso Coffee Maker
There are quite a few people out there who tend to overlook the value of an espresso machine in their home as the direct result of the costs involved in purchasing one of these wonderful machines. The thing you must keep in mind as a consumer however is that the costs involved up front should also offset the costs involved in late afternoon, mid morning, and evening runs to your local coffee shop where you spend upwards of $5 for a cup of espresso several times in any given week.
The good news is that demand is growing, competition is fierce, prices are coming down, and the manufacturers of coffee machines are beginning to understand that more and more consumers would prefer one machine that can make many delightful coffee drinks rather than needing a different machine for all occasions. For this reason you are seeing the emergence of more and more combination coffee grinders and espresso machines or espresso and cappuccino makers hitting the market.
Choices are great when you're looking for something such as a coffee maker in many ways, however too many choices can present a particular challenge to those who are rather new to coffee drinking in general and haven't really reached a point where they know their preferences just yet.
If you are new to coffee drinking or have just discovered the aromatic and delicious world of espressos and cappuccinos, I encourage you to do a little more taste testing before you take the plunge and purchase a machine of your own. I understand perfectly well that for many this is an expensive proposition but an espresso maker for the home is no small investment and it is far better to endure a few more $5 espressos than pay somewhere north of $250 for a machine that you are not likely to use very often.
Try the various drinks that are on the market. Learn about froth that makes cappuccinos so divine and making froth in addition to specific grinding requirements and bean availability when it comes to a great cup of espresso. Study the different machines on the market and identify what specific features you need most in an espresso maker.
Once you've learned what you like in espresso and cappuccinos you can begin searching for a machine that will accommodate your preferences as well as your budget. There are many wonderful brands you may wish to consider when purchasing your machine. I have a tendency to go with names I know and trust such as Krupps and Bunn. You will pay more for the name but there is also the peace of mind associated with quality that in my opinion makes it well worth the extra sticker price.
If expense is a primary concern and you like the feeling of espresso and aren't overly concerned about the quality of the espresso in and of itself you might want to try the Senseo coffee maker. It isn't as nice as many of the other espresso machines on the market but it does feel the need for those on a budget and allows you to enjoy some of the smaller luxuries in life sooner rather than later.
