Coffee Pods
If you are like many people who can barely muster the energy to smack the snooze button a few times before having their first cups of coffee, you may be interested in using coffee pods in order to not only speed but simplify the coffee making process for your sleep deprived mind. Pods make the entire process quick and painless for those who are in a hurry for their morning brew.
Even those who set up their pots to run before going to bed at night find this process much more convenient than trying to sift through for one filter, measuring out coffee scoops, then putting everything together in the basket of their coffee pots. You toss a pod into the basket, pour your water in the reservoir, hit the auto button and you're off to dreamland much more quickly and without risking coffee grounds scattered across the floor or countertop or any other unnecessary messes.
The downside to the convenience of pods is that you are sacrificing that freshly ground coffee flavor that you would be able to enjoy if you ground your own beans. I recommend using pods for your early morning cup and save the good stuff for your evening coffee when your taste buds are awake enough to appreciate the finer grind, the richer aroma, and the more pleasant taste. Of course if you simply can't sacrifice the flavor in the morning you could try one of the many flavored coffee pods that are hopping onto the market and see if one of them might hit the spot for you in the morning.
If you're like most Americans, morning time is the most difficult and treacherous to navigate. It is a time filled with all the last minute must do's before starting the day and getting the family out the door with everything each member must have to get through the day. A proper day cannot start in my household without an adequate concoction full of caffeine to at least get the eyelids to function. In all honesty it requires a double dose to get any more than that. I am fortunate however in that I'm generally the first one up so I'm not really required to function in any capacity before the coffee kicks in. This, however is the one reason I sincerely love pods. They are easy to use, don't require excellent hand to eye coordination when I've forgotten to set the pot up the night before (those filters are killer first thing in the morning), and they leave for easy clean up. Dump the pod, rinse, and you're set for the next pot of coffee. Can't really argue with simplicity like that and you don't have to worry about grounds spilling over into your coffee as you would with a filter and grounds.
I'm willing to sacrifice flavor first thing in the morning, as I'm generally unable to savor it. Convenience is the winner for my morning routine and pods provide that in spades. If you haven't checked them out see what your local coffee shop as to offer in way of pods, you might even find your favorite blend available.
