Israeli Coffee in Manhattan
Many people think of different things when it comes to great coffee. Some people think of the spicy flavor associated with Indian coffee, others remember the chicory that makes the brew in New Orleans, while still others hear the faint stirring of an island breeze that is often associated with Kona coffee. Most people do not however, think of Israel when it comes to drinking a great cup of coffee. If you happen to live in or around the Soho area of New York your next best opportunity to try Israeli coffee may be much closer than you realize.
The opening of "Aroma" has been a huge hit among coffee lovers across this great city. In fact, Starbucks and other popular coffee chains may be getting a real run for their money if the concept of Israeli coffee takes off in America. If the response so far in New York is any indication I am fairly certain we will see a growing demand for this delightful coffee across the country.
Israeli coffee tends to be stronger than your typical American brew. At the same time it also has a much sweeter and more acidic taste. The result is almost a flavor that I like to describe as mysterious. It's like one of those books in which you decide halfway through that you must read the last page before continuing one page further. You must finish your cup and once you do, you just may find that you are eager to begin the next.
One of the really great things about drinking coffee is that you could quite literally go every day of the year without drinking the same exact cup of coffee once if you are adventurous enough. My guess is that when it comes to Israeli coffee you will find that you do not wish to wait quite a year before your next cup however.
It may be a while before you get to enjoy the delightful flavor of Israeli coffee in a coffee house near you. However, if you are traveling to New York or Israel, whether for business or pleasure you would be doing yourself a grave disservice not to take the opportunity to experience this coffee drinking pleasure for yourself. As I mentioned above, one of the great things about being a coffee drinker is the ability to try new things on a regular basis. As far as coffees go, Israeli coffee isn't something that has been around for centuries. It is a relatively new coffee treat. However, if current trends are an indication it is showing great signs of being around for many generations to come as well as expanding globally to the delight of many interested taste buds around the world.
Even if sweeter coffees aren't traditionally the types of coffee you are attracted to as a coffee drinker you might find that the acidity and strong flavor of Israeli coffee counter the sweetness enough to make it an intriguing option for an occasional dessert coffee or simply a coffee to choose when you'd like a little something sweet, trust me, there are fewer calories there than in the chocolate shop.
