One-Cup Coffee Makers
If you have been considering a one-cup coffee maker for your coffee pleasure there are a few things you should consider before actually taking the plunge. The most obvious question to ask is whether or not a single serving brewing system would be convenient for the coffee drinking needs of your household. The truthful answer is that most households would benefit from a one-cup coffee making system - even those with multiple coffee drinkers or who consume multiple cups of coffee on any given day.
Some of the common reasons that people skip moving towards a one-cup coffee maker is the fact that they fear they will not be able to properly meet the needs of their morning routine. The truth is that a good coffee brewing system can make a cup of coffee in less than one minute. There are even a few systems on the market that are capable of brewing two cups at the same time (the brewing time is slower in these instances most of the time however). Most families do not have all members stumbling for the coffee pot at the same time each and every morning. For this reason it is generally quite possible to stagger the coffee drinking enough that there will be no problems using a one-cup method.
Additionally, many families brew large pots of coffee then leave it to sit on the burner until everyone has had their share for the morning. This leads to one or three things: a burned flavor for your coffee, a stale flavor for your coffee, or a good deal of coffee that gets poured down the sink before everyone heads out the door. If you ever find that your coffee sits around long enough for any of these things to occur you would probably do well to consider bringing a one-cup brewing system into your household.
If you believe you could benefit from using a one-cup brewing system you need to take care that you find one that will accommodate your coffee drinking needs. While pods coffee offers a convenience that is like nothing many coffee drinkers have ever experienced before there are a few areas where you will find this particular system to be a sacrifice. The good news is that there are single serving brewing systems on the market that allow the option of filtered coffee so that you can still use your favorite freshly roasted and ground coffee beans.
If you are willing to settle for pods I highly recommend choosing a coffee brewer that allows you to use various brands of pods so that you can find the one that most closely suits your coffee drinking preferences. Pods coffee will never compare to freshly roasted and ground coffee but the convenience for some coffee drinkers is worth the sacrifice. You are the only one that can determine what you are willing to sacrifice for the sake of convenience and expedience that go along with using pods coffee.
When considering whether or not single serving coffee makers are a good idea for your household, it's a good idea to first check out the varieties of coffee pods and makers on the market. There are many great systems out there if you are willing to sacrifice freshly ground coffee or go through the effort of making your own pods.
